Scented Water Play
This is a simple to set up toddler activity and can be done with what you happen to have at home. We have often done this activity and the girls always love it. Not only is it a sensory experience for them, but it can also be a work out for their motor skills depending on what you add in the water.
Set Up
So depending on what you have in your fridge or fruit bowl. It is just a case of slicing them thinly and keeping them in the fridge until you are ready to go. You could also freeze the slices for an extra sensory experience. Again this activity can be easily adapted with either cook ware, jugs, cups or Tupperware. Really whatever you have and think might be of interest to your little one.
Both girls spent some time at the start just smelling the water. M said it smelt “delicious.” And then they got involved. There was mixing, ladling, scooping, and fishing out the different items in the water. They were cooking up a storm. M had the great idea to get their plastic teacups and she started to make some fruity tea to sell. F of course had to copy. It was great to see them using their imaginations aswell as their motor skills.
We have also done this activity by adding fresh herbs and food colouring to the water, F really enjoyed squeezing all the fruit that time. Such a great work out for her little hands. This is an activity we will be coming back to.
