Christmas Tree Phonics Baubles

This is a great way to help your child practice their phonics in a fun Christmas themed way. My two love dotty stickers and I thought I would try these bigger dot stickers for this activity. This activity can be so easily adapted for whatever stage of phonics learning your child is at or for number, or colour recognition too!

Christmas Phonics Activity

Set Up:

For this I used green card and cut it into the shape of Christmas trees. On my eldest daughters tree I chose 4 sounds that she had only recently learnt and so was not completely sure of them. I wrote these several times over the tree. I had originally planned to write these same sounds on the dot stickers but knew that she would probably prefer not to see the sounds once she had finished it. For my youngest daughter I used these paint sticks to add blobs of different colours for her to match to the correct coloured sticker. I then used these large dot stickers to create a key as the instructions for how to complete.

They were both intrigued when they saw this Christmas themed phonics activity. I needed to explain how to use the key but once I had M quickly got the hang of it. F was surprinsgly good at matching the colours of her stickers and peeling and sticking them accurately. This was also great for her fine motor skills.

Christmas themed Toddler Phonics Activity

This Christmas themed phonics activity was such a hit with my two. I loved the fact that it was easy to set up and adapt. It was also great as an opportunity to learn how to use a key and practice their motor skills. We will have to do this activity again with different shapes to decorate!
